The Professional rate is the standard conference rate. This rate applies to most people who have their companies pay the conference fees and charge it as a professional development expense, or for individuals who can legitimately claim it is a tax deduction. The benefits of a Professional registration include attendance at the Professional Delegates Networking Session, attendance at the Penguin Dinner, and extra goodies in the Swag Bag.

The Hobbyist rate is heavily discounted for free software enthusiasts who are paying out of their own pockets and would otherwise find it difficult to attend.

This concession rate is reserved for High School, College, or University Students. offers this rate as a form of investment in the future of the free and open source software community. As part of the registration process, a valid student ID card or proof of enrolment must be presented to the onsite registration desk. Any Student who cannot provide this will be required to register at LCA2016 as a hobbyist by paying the difference in fees between the Student rate and the Hobbyist rate.

Volunteers would not be as successful as it is, without having a dedicated team of volunteers to help run the conference. If you're interested in spending the week of LCA2016 helping run the conference, please apply to be a volunteer.

Please see our Volunteering section for more information and to register your interest as a volunteer.

Diversity Programme

This year 2016 is proud to be working with Optiver to run the Optiver Diversity Programme.

There are a limited number of Media Passes available to media personnel. Media Passes are free of charge, and entitle media personnel to attend LCA2016 with all the entitlements of a Professional registration. Partners' Programme and Childcare

This year, due to limited time and resources, 2016 have decided not to run a Partners' Programme. The organisers are happy to provide interested partners with a mailing list and wiki space but will not be directly involved in planning events for partners.

Childcare will be available onsite at Deakin University. More information will be available on the Childcare page soon.

Go green and carbon offset!

In 2016 will once again allow you to carbon offset your attendance at LCA2016 during Registration. See our Environment page for more information on how our partner Fifteen Trees is assisting local Geelong Landcare groups.

For LCA2016 we have secured a block of rooms at Deakin University's Waurn Ponds Student Residences which are available to book directly with Deakin Residential Services

More information about the accommodation options is also available on our Accommodation page

For commercial reasons, the conference is unable to book blocks of accommodation with Geelong hotels and motels. A large cycling event is running in Geelong on 30th and 31st of January, and hotel accommodation on these dates is heavily booked. Our Accommodation page lists a range of accommodation providers.
